August 13-17, 2013

2013 presents its first ART AND NATURE WORKSHOP, one week of multidisciplinary classes for local art and nature lovers. Six Minnesota artists and teachers from the visual and performing arts will teach classes that focus on new technical skills in painting, craft, and mosaics, as well as an exploration of mindfulness through creativity.

Back by popular demand is Life Coach Thea Sheldon's 3rd annual DEEP, RICH, AND BOLD Retreat for Women Creatives and Entrepreneurs. The retreat's balance between scheduled and free time allows for hiking, kayaking, sauna, sitting by the fire, relaxing, talking or diving into your own work project. Limited to 7 women, you will have your own private room, tasty and nourishing meals and time for Profound Connections with Nature in the beautiful north woods wilderness.

August 5-11, 2013

An art journal/sketchbook workshop using writing, drawing and photography. Spend five summer days in the boreal landscape exploring your creative process through a variety of art-making processes. Use as subject matter the natural settings of forests, lakes, rocks, bogs, native plants, etc. and be guided by a painter, photographer and botanist, all experienced teachers who use nature as the focus for their own personal artwork and professional practice.

Past Master Classes

2012 continued TLC's annual mosaic-making retreat led by Minneapolis' renowned mosaicist Lisa Arnold, where participants experimented with many methods: pebbles, tile, stained glass, pottery, as well as Healthy Living Creative Retreat for Women, facilitated by artist and chef Anna Dvorak. An added highlight was Thea Sheldon’s 2nd annual Deep, Rich, and Bold Retreat for Women Entrepreneurs.

Emerging Artists Program

TLC is privileged to continue its fourth annual Emerging Artists Program, sponsored by the Jerome Foundation, offering 2 week-long residencies to 14 artists residing in either Minnesota or the 5 boroughs of NYC.
